maintain that status for as long as possible. People are thus like chained and forced to
work with whips. They are like trapped in a maze with no way out, like servants who
do not know who their master is, and like they have to chase after something all the
time. If they stop, it means death,” Achita replied.

“Who is the one who determines this, or is there an oppressive king?” Bhaddakacca

“At that time, even having an oppressive monarchy would be better, because no matter
how oppressive, the people would not be as hopeless as this. In fact, the individuals
who are doing this are trying to eliminate the monarchy, because it is an obstacle to
their process. They want to rule the whole world, even the kings.”

“Rule the kings? That means they must be at the level of a great emperor,” Patacara
